On Wednesday, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the cancellation of the provisional candidature of the contentious IAS trainee Puja Khedkar and barred her from participating in future exams.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch reportedly charged Khedkar on July 19 for allegedly misusing the disability and Other Backward Class (non-creamy layer) quotas to gain an unfair advantage in securing her position in the civil services examination.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) lodged a police complaint against Khedkar, accusing her of fraudulently participating in the civil services examination by falsifying her identity to exceed the allowed number of attempts.

A specialized team, headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) from the Crime Branch, was assigned to gather documents from various government departments.
