“The Congress disavows Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comment, alleging that the BJP aims to divert focus from PM Modi’s ‘mistakes’.”

In response to Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comment urging to “respect Pakistan,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi humorously remarked that Pakistan resorts to selling its nuclear arsenal due to economic woes. Speaking at a rally in Odisha, PM Modi criticized the Congress for instilling fear in the Indian populace regarding Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, asserting that such a timid stance had previously fueled cross-border terrorism.

The Congress persistently attempts to instill fear within the nation, cautioning about Pakistan’s possession of atomic bombs. These timid individuals are endeavoring to dampen India’s resolve. Historically, the Congress has maintained such a disposition. Pakistan’s situation is dire; they struggle to manage their own arsenal. Despite their attempts to sell these weapons, their poor quality renders them undesirable in the market. It is due to this feeble stance that the people of Jammu and Kashmir endured terrorism for more than six decades,” PM Modi stated.

In a widely circulated video, Mani Shankar Aiyar urged India to accord respect to Pakistan due to its possession of atomic bombs, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the sovereignty of the neighboring nation. He also cautioned that if an irrational leader were to ascend to power in Pakistan, there could be grave consequences, potentially endangering India with the use of such weaponry.

On Friday, the Congress distanced itself from Mani Shankar Aiyar’s statement, alleging that the BJP was attempting to divert focus from PM Modi’s “mistakes” by highlighting Aiyar’s remark.

“Indian National Congress unequivocally disassociates itself from and wholly disagrees with certain comments previously made by Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar, which have been resurfaced by the BJP today in an effort to divert attention from Prime Minister Modi’s frequent errors. Mr. Aiyar’s views do not represent the party in any capacity whatsoever,” stated Congress leader Pawan Khera.

Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah later condemned Mani Shankar Aiyar’s statement.

Mani Shankar Aiyar’s suggestion to respect Pakistan for its nuclear arsenal and Farooq Abdullah’s recent remark advising against discussing PoK due to Pakistan’s atomic bomb have drawn criticism. Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that Pakistan’s possession of nuclear weapons should not deter India from reclaiming PoK, emphasizing that it rightfully belongs to India and cannot be taken away by any external force.

Today, PM Modi predicted that the Congress would secure fewer than 50 seats in the Lok Sabha following the announcement of the general election results.
