West Bengal

Weather experts anticipate thunderstorms with slightly reduced intensity across the remaining districts of South Bengal.

Meanwhile, it’s been stated that rain, thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, are expected to continue in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar until the following week.

According to a report from the weather department, under the favorable synoptic conditions and significant moisture influx from the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms with lightning and strong gusty winds are highly probable to persist over the West Bengal districts. This is due to an east-west trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan to south Assam via Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation situated over north Bihar and surrounding areas at 3.1 km above mean sea level, along with a trough stretching from this cyclonic circulation over north Bihar to north Odisha via Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal at 3.1 km above mean sea level, contributes to these conditions.

In Bankura, Sriniketan, Burdwan, Asansol, Barrackpore, Jhargram, and Krishnanagar, the maximum temperature ranged between 32-33 degrees Celsius on Friday. Kalaikunda recorded the highest temperature in the state at 37 degrees Celsius.
